We are proud to be Open and Affirming

Pilgrim Church of Duxbury received confirmation from the United Church of Christ in December 2018 that it has been officially been recognized as an Open and Affirming congregation.

What does this mean?

It means, among other things that everyone, no matter where they are on life’s journey, is welcome at Pilgrim Church. It means that people of “every age, sexual orientation, gender identify and expression, ethnicity and race, physical and mental ability, and socioeconomic status” may enter into the “full life and ministry of this church.”

Welcoming Statement

To become recognized as an Open and Affirming congregation, the congregation adopted a welcoming statement, as follows:

Inspired by God’s love for all people, we the members of Pilgrim Church of Duxbury, United Church of Christ, declare ourselves to be an Open and Affirming congregation.

Following the teachings of Jesus Christ, we invite people of every age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, ethnicity and race, physical and mental ability, and socioeconomic status to enter into the full life and ministry of this church.

Guided by the Holy Spirit, we seek to be an expression of that unconditional love and to welcome all of God’s children.

If you live in Duxbury, or anywhere on the South Shore, please feel invited to attend any one of our worship services Sunday mornings at 10.
