Evening Discussion Series

Adult programs are proposed and led by lay members and approved by the Board of Deacons. Some popular adult discussion series have included:

  • 8-week sessions discussing the 4-volume series Listening for God: Contemporary Fiction and the Life of Faith by Paula Carlson & Peter Hawkins, eds.
  • A five-week discussion series on short stories from A Good Man is Hard to Find and other stories by Flannery O’Connor
  • A monthly drop-in book group focusing on fiction that reflects the challenges of immigrants or non-Christians assimilating into a largely Christian-American culture. Featured are works by such writers as Philip Roth, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Ha Jin
  • A five-week discussion series on Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life by Richard Rohr
  • A four-week discussion series on World Religion in America
