SERRV items are making a comeback in November at the Fair Trade table. We are excited about participating in SERRV’s matching funds campaign to support Famine Relief in Africa. Africa has not been in the news of late but 27 million people in East Africa have been affected by severe famine. During this campaign SERRV is donating 5% of all African product sales to Famine Relief. World Vision is matching that by 7x. That adds up to an additional 35% being donated to help this devastated area. In support of this campaign all SERRV items in November will be from artisans in various African Artisan Cooperatives. Check out hand carved soapstone sculptures and coasters from Nyabigena Carvers Cooperative in Kenya, jewelry from Trinity Jewellery Crafts in Nairobi, and beautiful black and white baskets from the Jyambere Mutegarugori basket cooperative in Rwanda. We have lots of beautiful items from which to choose. Find out more about SERRV’s artisan coops.
We will also have our usual array of Equal Exchange products. Be prepared for colder weather (yes, it is coming!) by stocking up on Hot Cocoa, Baking Chocolate, and of, course those wonderful Chocolate Bar Treats! Organic Green Tea with Ginger is a perfect blend to add a little spice to a fall evening sitting by the fire or relaxing after that wonderful Turkey dinner!
We have lots to be thankful for and much we can share. Fair trade is a way to help those who need it most. See you around the Fair Trade table after church in the vestry on November 19. Don’t forget your checkbook!
