Silent Movie Night with Peter Krasinski
Duxbury Community Event for Valentine's Day
Tuesday, February 14, 2023 6:30 PM to 8:15PM
Pilgrim Church will be hosting a Duxbury Community Event for Valentine’s Day. Peter Krasinski, world-renowned organist and recitalist, will be presenting a Silent Movie night, featuring two silent films with live organ accompaniment for the family to enjoy.
“The Boat”
In 1921, silent film star and comedian Buster Keaton released one of his best comedy shorts, “The Boat.”
The movie follows the exploits of an amateur boat builder (played by Keaton) whose boat is too big for his house and ends up getting him and his family – a wife, and two young boys – into all kinds of trouble.
“The Cameraman”
Buster Keaton is at the peak of his slapstick powers in “The Cameraman”—his last great masterpiece.
Keaton, a sidewalk tintype portrait photographer in New York City, develops a crush on Sally, a secretary who works for MGM Newsreels. To be near her, he purchases an old film camera, emptying his bank account, and attempts to get a job as one of MGM’s cameramen. He zigzags up and down Manhattan hustling for a scoop. His romantic pursuits are as jumbled as the mixed-up footage he shoots.
The audience will be able to watch the film and watch Peter play our wonderful Austin organ. A meet and greet with the artist will follow the event.
The event is free, although a free-will offering will be accepted.

Krasinski’s musicianship and command of the organ were matched by his intuition and keen sense of dramatic sensitivity … Mr. Krasinski’s ability to paint the story sonically merited a standing ovation at the film’s conclusion. All the while, he made it clear that it was the film, which merited such praise, for without Wellman’s own skill, we would not have been graced by such a pairing of genius.
